Literacy
This week we are recapping on vocabulary skills; verbs, adjectives, nouns etc. We will then be using these skills for poetry later in the week.
Pointless Spellings
For those of you familiar with the BBC One tea time quiz show, we are now running a weekly pointless spelling challenge whereby we ask the children to find words with our sound of the week. Towards the end of the week we will look at how many children have found each word and any words that haven’t been found by anyone else will be pointless and earn the children housepoints. These words are to be collected from their reading books and should be words that the children can read and understand. We are starting with the ‘ee’ sound.
Maths
This week we will be recapping on Division methods.
Games
Just a reminder that all children need a kit for outdoor games as we are now taking part in Rugby sessions. This must include a pair of trainers that can be worn on the field. The field is very muddy due to the weather so plastic bags will be handy for muddy shoes. Football boots may also be worn.
Dental Screening
This will take place on Friday 19th January. Please return your consent forms as soon as possible.
Eisteddfod
Children who are taking part in this year’s Eisteddfod will be meeting with Miss Simpson this week to find out about their poems and rehearsal schedule.
Cycling Proficiency
Mrs Shillito’s Class have now started the Cycling Proficiency Programme with Mrs Mauger. Any queries, please contact her on samantha.mauger@stmartins.sch.gg
Here’s to another busy week!
