Literacy

We’re starting work on our new Literacy target of Ambitious Vocabulary by creating some poetry using similies and metaphors. These poems are based on family members – look out!

Numeracy

This week we are recapping on our knowledge of decimals and percentages, the applying these skills by using them to interpret pie charts.

Topic

We are well into our topic on WW2, and have been learning about the invasion of the Channel Islands and the evacuation.

Evacuation Day and Tea Party – Friday 4th May

The children will be ‘evacuating’ to the Parish Hall on Friday 4th May and are invited to come into school dressed as a child from the 1940’s.  We are also looking for willing volunteers to come in and be a ‘host’ family for our evacuees and then help with the setting up and running of our tea party in the afternoon.

Anyone who is available to help out with evacuating/setting up/tea party then please let your child’s class teacher know.

We are also looking for anyone who would be willing to come in and share their wartime stories and memories. They would be talking to small groups of children at a time over a cuppa and some cake, (any offers would be gratefully appreciated) who would also enjoy the opportunity to ask questions.  If you know of someone who would like to attend then please let us know as we have made some invitations that could be handed out and to RSVP to Mrs De Sousa by 30th April sandra.desousa@stmartins.sch.gg
